Norway Real GDP Growth Slows to 1.6%

Norway's real GDP growth slowed to 1.60% in the second quarter of 2026, from a revised 1.91% in the previous quarter, according to the International Monetary Fund. This marks the third consecutive quarterly decline, with growth easing from 2.25% in the third quarter of 2025. The latest reading remains well above the year-ago figure of 0.19% but is far from the all-time high of 8.99% recorded in the first quarter of 1980. The current pace is also the lowest since the second quarter of 2025, when growth stood at 0.19%, though it stays above the series low of -3.62% seen in the fourth quarter of 2020, according to the IMF.
