Canada Foreign Exchange Reserves

Canada's foreign-exchange reserves rose to USD 127.4 billion in August from USD 127.0 billion in July, the highest since February 2026. The August figure remained below the all-time high of USD 128.8 billion set in October 2025 and was also lower than the year-earlier reading of USD 127.9 billion. The increase reversed a decline from the June low of USD 126.4 billion and marked the second consecutive monthly rise. Over the past 12 months, reserves have ranged between USD 126.4 billion and USD 128.8 billion, according to the International Monetary Fund.

Canada's foreign-exchange reserves excluding gold rose to 127.4 billion USD in August 2026 from 127.0 billion in July. The level remains 1.4 billion below the all-time high of 128.8 billion recorded in October 2025. The series dates back to April 2000.
