Ireland Unemployment Rate Holds at 5% in August

Ireland's unemployment rate held at 5.0% in August, unchanged from July. The rate was 4.9% a year earlier. Over the past year, it has ranged from 4.6% in November 2025 to 5.0% in several months, including five of the past eight. The August reading matches the level seen in January, February, March, and July 2026. It remains well below the series high of 17.1% recorded in September 1985 and above the all-time low of 3.9% from April 2001, according to Eurostat.
