U.S. Strategic Petroleum Reserve stocks fell to 289,726 thousand barrels in the week ended Aug. 21, from 293,426 thousand barrels a week earlier. That is the lowest level since Nov. 26, 1982, and marks the 22nd consecutive weekly decline. A year earlier, the reserve totaled 404,201 thousand barrels. In the same week, gasoline production was 9,772 and natural gas stocks rose by 3,184, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration.
